There are many professions available to someone who has a degree in audio engineering. These people are proficient with a variety of different types of sound and mixing equipment that they use to manipulate music and noises. Most sound engineer choose one aspect of the field to master and start a career with. There are 8 of these different fields that a person can choose from.

A studio engineer is someone who works in a studio with a producer or one that works in a studio alone as a producing sound engineer. They are responsible for making the different tracts sound the best that it is able to. They analyze the technical and musical aspects of the present sounds and adjust their equipment and performance of the artist so that it sounds the best that it possible can.

Mixing boards are used by recording engineers to manage different tracks from radio, television, and music. Sound effects can be installed in to select pieces and the tempo may also be adjusted to fit the needs of the consumer. They will work closely with the consumer to ensure that they get what they want from the track.

Different tracks can be mixed together by a mixing engineer. They can take tracks that contain different sounds and splice them together to create new sounds and tracks. They must be able to combine them in creative ways that would appeal to any audience that might hear them.

Games require sound engineers to manage and combine the special effects that make them so fun to play. These engineers will work exclusively on games and will be responsible for adding sounds effects and music that contribute to the overall feel of the game. The sound must be carefully balanced so that it is not overwhelming and is pleasing to the player.

Bands and other live performers often have a live sound engineer that travels with them. This person can be responsible for setting up and managing any and all of the sound equipment used. They often have a mixing board so that they can enhance and perfect certain sounds so the the performer sounds their best.

Fold back or monitor engineers also work at live performances. There job is to monitor what the audience hears and adjust it accordingly. They must enhance sounds that the audience is supposed to hear and mute any that they should not hear. An example would be that you do not want the audience to hear the stage hands arguing back stage.

PA systems can be difficult to set up and manage. System engineers specialize in doing this. They must design the systems so that they can be used efficiently for the purpose that they are most needed. They will be responsible for making sure that the systems enhance and mute any sounds that are picked up by them.

Films and television shows often have an audio post engineer on staff. These people are responsible for managing all the sounds that come with this type of media. They must be able to correctly balance and enhance the tracks so that the effects are not too overwhelming but are believable to the audience.

There are several different branches that a person interested in audio engineering can choose from. You should choose which one best suits your interests and talents for a career. Sound engineers must the capable of using a variety of different equipment and must be able to listen and analyze the audio for any given thing.
