Pixie Lott Fashion Icon

by Abigail Collins

Pixie Lott has been making a bit of a stir since blasting into the charts just a few short years ago and wowing audiences both with her genuine singing talent and her undeniably charming appearance. Her looks to begin with carry already a natural cuteness, while her choice of dress and jewellery does wonders in boosting her already pixie-like features and warm personality.

Surrounded by the heady allure of stardom and glamour, as well as being a prime target of the popular press, Pixie has done well to maintain her own individuality which continues to come across not just in what she says and does but in how she dresses too. Her fondness for cute jewellery such as aptly-named charm necklaces and bangles, as well as hip clothes with short hemlines, have all been scrutinised since her entrance into the public eye and the reviews have come back most favourably. Such is the appeal of her look that she was able, even at such a young age, to launch her own range of fashion with the help of Lipsy.

Her recent appearances at the Ashish 2011 Spring/Summer Fashion Show was one in which she once again demonstrated her love for frocks and necklaces, while her new line of fashion launched in co-operation with glamorous designer brand Lipsy has seen some popularity in reproducing the prodigy's preferred style. The new range has gone with a decidedly floral theme, sporting the same style of short dresses and frocks that Pixie prefers in light spring colours. Her love of this style of clothing is very apparent, a love shared by her fans as the new range is doing well in sales.

Mistakes are part and parcel of the glamour world, especially for the younger icons, and Pixie is not impervious herself to the odd mishap here and there as we saw at the 2010 Glam Awards but this is all part of the Pixie Lott experience. She won't compromise on her look just to fit in with the other celebrities by wearing what's 'in' with designer labels but will instead favour her own experiments in creating a look, mixing and matching garments to produce a more natural and individual outfit; and she's always ready and willing to share her fashion and cosmetic secrets with the fans.

Pixie also claims that she likes British fashion the best, for the individuality it allows in the styles that can be put together as opposed to the groomed look of L.A. girls. Her weakness, she revealed in an interview, is necklaces and large rings. And it is true that the singer is rarely seen without her patterned charm necklaces or large stoned rings to compliment her dress-sense.

And it works, as a performance for the Isle of Wight festival proved when Pixie's cheeky blue jumpsuit proved a hit with both fans and critics alike, as did her performance which went on through the pouring rain and lifted many spirits through the dismal weather.

It was during this episode that Pixie demonstrated her innate fashion sense and improvisational skills in recommending everyone use their necklaces as make-shit hairbands to beat the rain, as well as showing off her summery look amid the grey rain to the great delight of those present.

All in all, Pixie has certainly done well in jumping the hurdle of 'teenage idol' and stepping into the wider music world and proving her adult credentials there. With her own endorsed brand of designer wear, her own distinct style, legions of fans, cute looks, and a very promising music career ahead of her, Pixie has achieved more than most at her age and seems happy in herself and with her distractions; namely fashion and chic jewellery.
