The Blair Witch Project is extremely popular but it was very cheap and easy to make. It does not have much of a story line, but it does get quite thrilling near the end of the movie. It involves a group of young people in the forest who have taken a video camera with them on their adventure.

The Ring is a terrifying movie about a small girl who is pushed down a well. She eventually dies down there and to seek revenge she begins to terrorize a family consisting of a young mother, her boyfriend, and her small son. This movie is well liked by almost all horror movie buffs.

The Saw series has been a very successful franchise. The original movie received the best reviews from critics, but all of the other movies have done great at the box office. The original saw movie starts off with two guys who wake up in a room together. They do not know how they got there and they are handcuffed to a pipe. They are soon given a series of tasks which must be completed within a period of time or they will be killed. This movie is not as much scary as it is gruesome and suspenseful.

Some horror movies are also based on real life events. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre states that the events in the film had actually happened. The amount that was true however is debatable. The story involves five young adults taking a fun filled road trip until they become stranded in a small village.

A slice and dice thriller that was extremely popular in the 90′s and today, is Scream. It looks at a group of young adults who start to be killed one by one by a murderer. To make the film even scarier the killer is dressed up as a ghost. This piece of clothing was mimicked and marketed to young kids for Halloween costumes.
