“SuperXero” was started in San Jose California in 1996. The name must be unfamiliar to you but this was the name of a band that has ingeniously combined the concepts of Rock and Rap. It was this year when 6 lads formed this band, Rob Bourdon on drums, Brad Delson on lead guitar, Mike Shinoda on vocals, Dave Farrell on bass, and Mark Wakefield as the lead singer. The name “SuperXero” was soon changed to Xero driven by the low interest from its target audience. This poor impression from the crowd triggered the band’s lead singer to leave. A year before the millennium, a new member, Chester Bennington, came to join the band which name was changed to Hybrid Theory. Similar to the prior names, this named encountered problems being accused of duplicating the name of a different artist. In respect to memorial park in Santa Monica, California, the band name was changed again to Lincoln Park. The name Hybrid Theory was never forgotten. As a matter of fact, the first album released in 2000 had this name. The year 2000, was a good one for the band because their album became a success that year. It was a huge debut album success, selling over ten million copies in the United States alone. Since this time “Linkin Park” has enjoyed success in the rap rock genre.

Two years after the successful debut album launch, “Linkin Park” launched “Projekt Revolution”, which brought together different bands and artists from 2 different genres of hip hop and rap. Come the next year, another album, “Meteora”, was released. Then a year after, another record, Collision Course, was released. Behind the success in every album launch, one of their songs, “One Step Closer” has been linked to a violent incident in their home state. The news media implied that the song had lyrics that could potentially prompt violence.

Back when the band was experimenting which name to use, they faced different controversies apparently with each name they chose. Before the name Linkin Park was finalized, critiques insinuated that the name “Linkin Park” was made from Hybrid Theory so that it becomes competitive in record bars sitting side by side with Limp Bizkit’s copies. The name Hybrid Theory was changed to “Linkin Park” driven by certain legalities. Another band already had this name as their record label.

Using the vast reach of the internet, the band has created a huge fan base by its online promotions. Considering what internet presence can do, the band was able to extend to their audience exponentially.
