Al Gomes In The Music Industry


Al Gomes has more than 30 years of experience within the music industry. He is founder and operator of an award-winning music company called Big Noise. Within his company, he helps clients with music career consultations, music production and promotion, artist development and film and television licensing.

Gomes earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in communication at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. While attending school at the college, he worked for the school newspaper and radio station. He wrote as a columnist at The Anchor newspaper. He also served as an arts and entertainment editor. The WRIC radio station recruited him as a DJ, but he eventually produced a syndication show for the station as well. He also produced a considerable amount of original plays while at the college.

Big Noise began in 1990. He founded the company, an independent artist and repertoire music firm. With help from his business partner A. Michelle, the firm has become widely known, especially within the independent music scene.

Big Noise has received recognition for their work in the form of numerous awards. The firm has released over 300 artist recordings from a collection of music genres. Big Noise has said that they are dedicated to giving independent artists a chance to succeed. The company helps artists budget their money, handle studio work, and make important decisions. Big Noise also lends a hand when it comes to art direction, manufacturing and distributing of records.

Though Big Noise is dedicated to helping independent and unknown artists, Gomes has done notable work within the mainstream music industry. He has worked with big names in the American music business. His resume includes a long list of popular productions.

He was among the people who helped create the career of Christina Aguilera. As Director of Online Entertainment and Market for Three Wishes Promotions, he contributed a lot to the company, owned by Aguilera. While at the company he worked as a biographer, archivist, publicist, web master, marketer and promoter. He worked closely with Aguilera when he produced two of her tracks: What a Valentine Wants and Holiday With Christina.

In addition to aiding Aguilera, Gomes has worked with Katharine McPhee from American Idol, Paul Doucette of Matchbox 20 and producer Shelly Yakus. He has partnered with bands Little Anthony and the Imperials and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He has composed music with songwriters such as Mike Viola, Jimmy Crane, Sean Callery and several others.

Gomes started the Band Wagon Project to increase awareness about the hungry and homeless in America. The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Foundation gave The Jefferson Award to the project, which has raised thousands of dollars to go towards providing food and shelter for the bar, for outstanding public service. The project involved several public figures that teamed up to record Three Sides of Hunger song and perform two televised concerts.
